If you could change the ending of any book, which one would it be?
The Temple of the Golden Pavillion.
I would NOT change the ending. It’s great,
I think the monk sets fire to the temple, eases back, lights a cigarette and watches it burn. I used a similar ending in a short story I wrote, The Outpost, I can’t find it anymore for a hard disk was thrown out with a lot of poetry and other things I wrote. But I had the guy sit back at the end, light a cigarette, and glare at a man who was strung up in a hunting cabin for having mishandled a youth lass of a friend. Anyways, the story was rock solid.
Do you guys like Mishima? He’s not bad.
Cheers!
