I really miss heading out at dawn on an empty stomach, having fixed up my fishing gear, rods, lines, lures, bobbers, etc.. I’d haul the Evinrude from the shed down to the dock and throw it onto my grandfather’s aluminum boat which I named Big Red. Screw it in, attach the gas line, plug the back, light a cheap gas station cigar or a dirty cigarette and go man go. I caught a 34-37″ musky one morning, trolling a weedline out the bay where the bottom drops to 20 odd feet. I thought I snagged a log but sure enough after tugging away like a madman for a bit, IT MOVED! Cue the Jaws theme. Remarkable creature, a female. I put her back to mate again many many more times for her, my friend she is.
Pickerel, bass, but it was most often and pleasurably so, perch that filled my breakfast plate! That delicious white meat fried to perfection. Some veggies and beans, a good book, the turquoise honky tonk piano to compose on, CBC on the radio, counterpoint exercises of 8 maybe ten voices I was at I think. Baroque music is VERY simple>>>> One must simply follow the rules….
