Tropic of Capricorn

What book are you reading right now?

Hi, me I’m rereading The Tropic of Capricorn for the second time! “The Cosmodemonic Telegraph Company…” Great stuff!

I like:

The Tropic of Cancer

Black Spring (The best!)

The Colossus of Maroussi

The Smile at the Foot of the Ladder

The Air-conditioned Nightmare

Under the Roofs of Paris

Quiet Days in Clichy

The Angel is my Watermark

The Time of the Assassins

some text on Yukio Mishima

Plus more lol

I like his trip! He’s been thrown into the same boat as Shakespeare, whereas the amount of word vocabulary is suggested to be similar, according to one critic.

I used to have these old dictionaries I picked up from my nanny’s place that had the most amazing words, dating back, these books to the 1920s-60s I think, and they inspired me SO much! I must find some old dictionaries and feed up on those older generation English pen scribbles.

Thank you!

You know I’ve got some others on the go,

Dostoyevsky complete works

The Art of War

The Birth of Tragedy

Some more

Nico

    1. Good question, I believe there is love, and, it’s also Miller trying to get his ass in gear to become a successful writer, so he’s got to make it to France, and thus begins The Tropic of Cancer. I enjoy the part where he’s rambling while walking one of the NY bridges etc. I’m glad I’m rereading it! I love his Nietzsche, Dostoyevsky, influenced style! Dare I say my little books are in the same strain yes! Thanks! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

  4. Ya, he’s really trippy Rojie! I wrote this French poem when I was like maybe 18 I guess, and my bro said “Wow! This is similar to Henri Miller!…”

So I quickly bought Tropic of Cancer, read, and loved it! ๐Ÿ˜
