To Helen by Edgar Allan Poe
Helen, thy beauty is to me
Like those Nicéan barks of yore,
That gently, o’er a perfumed sea,
The weary, way-worn wanderer bore
To his own native shore.
On desperate seas long wont to roam,
Thy hyacinth hair, thy classic face,
Thy Naiad airs have brought me home
To the glory that was Greece,
And the grandeur that was Rome.
Lo! in yon brilliant window-niche
How statue-like I see thee stand,
The agate lamp within thy hand!
Ah, Psyche, from the regions which
Are Holy-Land!
Wonderful isn’t it? A trip back from Troy? The Odyssey? That trip back home following the call of my muse. Eager for an embrace, a kiss, a settling, love.
Friedrich Nietzsche
“The true man wants two things: danger and play. For that reason he wants woman, as the most dangerous plaything.”–— Thus Spoke Zarathustra
How very true!

I’ve had a fascination with their culture for years after reading an article on them in National Geographic. I bought this poetry book after having read a wonderful post by Rojie on their cuisine.
THE VANISHED SKY
Within the icy snow of dark winter
Stand Uyghurs’ houses
Martyrs are lying without burial cloths
They look like scattered pomegranate seeds
The sky hides itself
Inside the shooting stars
They have no country and often get hit.
The painting on the cover of the chosen book UYGHUR POEMS looks like an old friend, Tanya.
