For 2-3 years in a row I spent my summers, much of them, in Kingston Ontario. Two family members and I had a yacht, a Carver, and we cottaged it at the marinas, ate like kings and queens, they went dancing, hung with U.S. military dudes from across the lake, etc. I read a lot and we had a Cadillac Eldorado so it was late night car trips to Wolf Island, or….the grocerystore, you know the univerity youth partied like maniacs my god. I always slept in the flybridge for extra undisturbed snoozing. BUT>>> THE THOUSAND ISLANDS was the REAL trip, there were boat tours from Gananoque and they were amazing.
Superb mansions, boathouses on the islands.
Me it was the sound of the tour ship engine with the hot summer windy night time views of this incredible place.
“The Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway System has remained a vital deep draft waterborne transportation link for moving goods between North America’s heartland and international markets since it opened in 1959.”
This is a remarkable feat of engineering.
Tonight I’d like to be in Boston, it August, on a whaler, chillin’ in the surf fishing for striped bass. Never been.
