Bobby’s Bunks

Many years ago when staying at the Shepherds of Good Hope, I really had to catch a nap, so I asked for a bed and they put me IN………..drum roll! Bobby’s Bunks! It was a room closest to the front doors, it was within the main hall area, not behind the doors closing off the actual sleeping quarters of the building at the time, so you’d lie there and the heavy buzzer unlocking doors would whack the hell your brain all night to the coast of unbelievable stressfull tight tight sleep you know.

So, what happened in the night is a game started up, I don’t know how it started but the staff at the social worker’s office were sticking their heads out of the counter thing and they would command:

“Buddha!!!!! Run!!!!!!!!!” And I would lift my feet and run in the air for about 10 seconds in my sleep, then put them down. Once again>>>”Run Buddha Run!!!!!!” I’d lift my feet and run in the air for another 10 seconds. Lol! Then, once I woke up and caught it all, everyone was laughing, I just went back to sleep to the sound of that door slamming and people running in grateful lol. It’s a funny memory.

One morning, I think maybe another time, it was cold and snowing out, someone had stolen my boots while I slept, happens a lot, I had one guy in crutches piss in one of my boots once, anyways, they have machine washers, I didn’t want to fight that time right.

So my winter boots were gone>>> I had to walk out into the wet stinging snow in my socks, I remember a casual friend of mine freaking out worried as I stepped over the other dudes sleeping in the stairwell leading out into the -20° slush.

I found boots across the street, I remember I liked them a lot, velcro and leather, but I prefer buying them myself at Mark’s now. Anyways, ya, Bobby’s Bunks was named for some dude who I don’t know what.
