Cuba 2025 day 7

Got up quick, washed, ate, tour of Habana. Passed a blue Sirocco Volks on the way. 6 years clean and sober and I keep forgetting to order NON-alcoholized pinas!!!!! Lol!!!! Sip, burp burp, damn…. lol! No harm done, I’m not sweating in need. 4-5 accidental sips on this trip lol. Fantastic tour guide told us how to properly light and smoke a cigar. Cohiba is the native word for the tobacco leaf here and Columbus wrote it up in a journal I think. Ehm, ohhhhhhh! She showed us where Hem’s apt. was and it was there that he finished Hills like White Elephants I think she said was the book, it’s the top corner pad of a beaut. pink building in Old Habana. Art Nouveau buildings with female shapes, trees, nature. A historical figure called Marti, Fidel Castro kept a picture of him in his desk, he was a poet and philosopher, Fidel Castro vowed to continue his work. There was a yellow facade bar where apparently the high priced prostitutes used to hang out at. We all ate an amazing dinner, I had-with the cats at my feet-chicken, tomato rice, green beans, coffee, the cats fought a bit oops. I bought some artwork and hung with the vendors, VERY cool locals!!!! LOVED IT!!!!!! Got along famously. I was asked to sign the outside wall of La Bodeguita del Medio —-Nicholas K F Matte—– This bar where Hemingway would go to to drink, my god!!!! Probably the best writer I’ve ever read!!!! A busker, pictured below, played wonderfully, I tipped, we took pics, much to the excellent tour-guide’s disapproval lol! She was sweet though but protective. A dude came walking next to me and he caricatured my head, pictured below. Much on Che, Castro and Batista> Castro and Che bought a yacht and sailed from Mexico to Cuba where they landed and derailed a train that was loaded with weapons of such which were to be used against them, a train sent out by Batista, who later took flight from Cuba early New Years at 2 am.
This has been THE BEST TRIP of my life!!!
Habana was a real eye-opener!!!
These people are the best!!!!! You fit right in. Similar to hanging in downtown Ottawa in the Byward with my friends drinking, smoking cigs. and just enjoying ourselves.
