Describe a man who has positively impacted your life.
Hi, me, like the rest of the world, I am enthralled by Ludwig Van Beethoven.
When I was around 19, I knocked at the Knox Presbyterian Church on Elgin St. My mission was to continue music where Beethoven left off. So everyday I’d grab my old piano finger etudes book I got from Inese, my grandmother, and I’d walk 2-3 blocks and hit the keys. Then I got to know Mervyn Games, the church organist. He gave me lessons on the pipe organ, I did not continue. So I ended up conducting his 4th and the Egmont for around 20 minutes each in masterclasses at the U of M. But this guy was OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!
VIVA BEETHOVEN!!!!!
In Immortal Beloved, Garry Oldman plays him GOOD, but according to Music Magazine, the history is all off.
Thank you!
Nico
