Arlita Matte/St. Benoit Labre

Describe a family member.

Hi, me, I think my aunt Arlita Matte was great! She became a nun to stick it to my grandparents, had a girlfriend nun, we’d hang at the cottage some, I worked for her sanding classroom floors and desks, emptying classrooms, in Montreal Qc. where she was Principal of Villa Maria girl school near Cote St. Luke. One day, I was waiting to get the keys or something to get to a piano and practice my chops when a young lady approached my aunt, my aunt leaned over, the young lass whispered to her looking worried, my aunt thought for a bit, then said something back to explain, THEN, gave the child the biggest smile, and the young girl was ALL BETTER. That stayed with me.

Oooooh! I have a St.!!! My grandmother did genealogy and found that ST. BENOIT LABRE was an ancestor. I often ate at the Maison Benoît Labre near Canal LaChine. The cook was good! So Benoit healed people some, was constantly kicked out of missions in Europe, walked to Italy, covered in bugs, slept in cemeteries, and I believe he died in Rome where he was taken in by a kind butcher, where he passed-away in the back room. I have a book! I shall re-read it!

Thank you!

Nico

Be kind!
