Irish, Scottish, French

What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?

Hi, me all my life, I was walking around thinking my ancestry was solely French. I enjoy Paris! Kissing my girlfriend who was sitting on my lap on one of the benches under the Eiffel Tower, THAT is a cherished memory! The Seine, bateau mouches, the green book vendor stalls, the guy at the restaurant wearing a picture frame about his bust showing he was the new art movement sitting there eating a steak et frite. Ya, I dig, and it turns out later I learned that I have Irish ancestry too, so I’ve been reading up on Ireland mythology and history a bit, very funny the story of the giants of the Giant Causeway, very interesting these hexagonal lava columns, oh I read that 70 000 Irish volunteers fought in WW2, since of neutrality. I enjoyed watching Brave Heart when I was younger, the battles and all that tripped me out, and I have ancestry there I discovered last week, so kilts, bagpipes, the highland games, all that you guys see, it’s great!

I’ve been dissuaded to take a saliva DNA test for they may sell I suppose to surveys and such I don’t know and I don’t really care about that at all, I don’t mind my DNA being out there, but I promised a family member I wouldn’t because he’s getting old and crazy lol

BUT when I do, it will be interesting to see where else my DNA points to, I know my Grand Dad wrote I read in a little book he made that my family name Matte’s etymology means according to his research a small hill in German language. My aunt and I never heard of any aboriginal blood, but she said it’s possible, that would be wild!

Cheers!

Good prompt.

Nico
