What would your life be like without music?
Hi, I think without music in my life, I would be quite unhappy because when I well, USED to play classical guitar, I really entered a euphoric state. It really was it. Fingers just doing it right and the sound glorious out of the nylon string, I would find myself with my ear against the top side just taking it all in, ya, I miss that in my brain quite a bit. I was pretty good. I recorded a Carcassi study many years ago, and it sounded pro. I also, apex of my career, played at Tomino Jazz Sous Les Etoiles festival in Corsica L’ Iles De Beautee, some arrangements I wrote of Monks Mood, Chelsea Bridge, and some other originals of mine, then, I played Paco De Lucia AL Di Meola and John Mclaughlin’s Mediterranean Sundance SOLO, for a request from the audience, and the ever hip Minino Garay, main act, hopped on stage with his guys and we jammed to the tune.
I drew a lot of pride from my playing, especially the classical, they put me in the Ottawa Glebe Paper for my playing at Irene’s Pub where I silenced the crowd there and they graciously applauded this one time and it blew my mind, that went really well. So very important, yes. Plus, I have a certificate from the University of Montreal in orchestra conducting, did Beethoven 4th 20 min. Egmont Overture 20 min. Schubert in Bb symphony 20 min. Etc. Very gratifying. I met my girlfriend at the time there, we dated for quite some time and had a lot of fun!
Now I have a green Vantage steel string axe with a warped neck and awful ringing notes that I don’t dare touch for fear of someone hearing, but, my uncle might pass me his I was told, or I’ll just buy a classical yamaha from Steve’s and get the job done.
(Lots of other bands and experiences in music and all important to me)
Good question.
