Hi, I’m watching Fidelio by Ludwig van Beethoven on Youtube. Is it ever great, I read some of what Bernstein taught on his website. The music is Devine! 1:16 or the second act music is amazing!
Leonore III makes me think of horseback riding during the triumphant ending, I go nuts hearing it.
Waldstein piano sonata is supreme brilliance! One day I was taking a nap on my girlfriend’s mattress she had on the floor of her apartment when we were students in Montréal and she was playing some at the piano practicing her stuff, it was funny because I would grunt from my sleep when she went lax a bit in her interpretation and she’d straighten up and say, “Oh? OK….” and she would replay the part and do it all perfect, I was laughing.
The Waldstein Sonata was the beginning of Beethoven’s 2nd period apparently, he was inspired to compose fresh for with a new Erard French piano which was stronger and louder than his Viennese one.
I LOVE THE WALDSTEIN SONATA!
She played it for me, I watched her hands in awe, it looked so simple and the music was SO BRILLIANT! That sonata is just amazing!
He is universally loved, this majorly apparent in the 9th Symphony’s apex> Ode to Joy written by the poet Friedrich Schiller, “An anthem for humanity”
If you want to hear a sublime 4th Symphony, check out Scherchen conducting it, he exclaims at the end of the 1st movement and the place goes Bananas.
Beethoven put out Classical Music like a brush fire under his boot, then, kicked in the Romantic era!
Thank you for reading my blog here!
Stay safe!
